Save a complete destination
Use your hotel’s full name and address when planning. For dinner, save the business name and building details too. A broad destination such as “Tenjin” leaves a lot to work out after you arrive.
The Fukuoka City Subway website provides route and timetable information. Start there when choosing a journey, then check any other transport operator involved in your trip.
Match the station and line
Read the exact station name shown in your route, including any suffix. For example, Tenjin and Tenjin-minami are separate stations, so make sure the map and platform signs match the service you intend to use.
Before boarding, check the travel direction and where your train is going. If you are uncertain, ask staff while you still have time rather than following a crowd onto a platform.
Look at the last walking section
Find the exit closest to your destination and note its number where available. The easiest exit for the journey may depend on whether you have luggage or need an elevator.
Save the hotel address in Japanese so you can show it if you need help. Keep a second copy somewhere accessible if your phone runs out of battery.
Check the return at the right time
A daytime outward route does not confirm an evening return. Search again for the time you expect to leave dinner and include every transfer.
Do not use a general operating window as the last departure for your particular trip. If your plans change, check the next workable route before moving farther away from your accommodation. A direct return is often the easiest finish to a first night.
